Alba Esther Armstrong lived with foster parents and adopted their name of Crew. Later she lived with a family in Ohio by the name of Harris.
Alba's father was in the military and later was a custodian of a piano factory. Her parents were old when they sent her to live with the Crew family.
She had 2 brothers who were missionaries.
Vera Bryan remembers them walking all the way from Ohio to see her family in Gobles, Michigan when she was little.
Alba suffered from TB and was sent to Northern Michigan to live with her Aunt and Uncle, Arthur and Ella Sweeney.
Alba married August Carl Melching on 6 May 1903 in Harbor Springs, Emmet, Michigan.
Their children are: Twila Delolus Melching, Leland Ward Melching, Baby Boy Melching, Theron Melching, Kenneth Carl Melching, Vera Loretta Melching, Maddison Melching, Donald A. Melching, Donivan J. Melching, Matinson M. Melching, Winona Esther Melching and Theolaine Alba Melching.
They moved to Gobles, Michigan. Alba died December 28, 1954 and is buried in the Robinson Cemetery, Gobles, Michigan.
