Winner Dies

Services for Alton A. Hickman, 39, R-2 Harbor Springs, who died yesterday at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor after an illness of eight months, will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Stone Funeral Home. Lieut. Griswold of the Salvation Army will be in charge, assisted by the American Legion. Burial will be in Pleasantview cemetery.

He was born May 11, 1923, in Petoskey. On Jan. 3, 1946, he was married to Alene Ilgen at Lena, Ill., and they made their home in Pleasantview township. For about 12 years he was a mechanic with Jack's (Weinrich) Truck Service but for the past year has driven truck for Hodgkiss & Douma. During World War II he served in the Army in Europe and received the Purple Heart after being wounded in France.

He was a member of the Harbor Springs Post, American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, Stanley, Clyde, Thomas and Gary; and one duaghter, Jayne all at home; four brothers, Herbert and John of Petoskey, Rolland of Mishawaka, Ind., and James of Auburn, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Forest (Lula) Schlappi and Mrs. Rose Warner of Harbor Springs and Mrs. Charles (Nina) Bond of Levering.

The body will be at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may call Saturday.
