Rites Saturday
Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Clements Church at Pellston for Andrew (Skutz) Skoczylas, 77, who died unexpectedly yesterday at his home near Pellston. Rev. Fr. Theophilus Thell, O. F. M. will officiate and interment will be in Lark’s Lake cemetery.
He was born in Poland on November 30, 1882 and came to Pellston in 1904. He married the former Josephine Wiklanski on November 11, 1907 at Lark’s Lake, and the couple had since resided in the Pellston area, where he was a farmer except for two years, spent in Detroit. Mr. Skoczylas retired from farming in 1953.
He was a member of St. Clements Church.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine; six sons, John of Chicago, Stanley and Henry of Detroit, Frank of Slymar, California, Joseph, with the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina, and Eddie of Flint; five daughters, Mrs. Julia Lash of Gaylord, Mrs. Stanley (Stasia) Bodzick of Levering; Mrs. Julius (Anna) Kawula, Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) Wilson and Mrs. Raymond (Nelle) Borghi, all of Detroit; 43 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The bodywas taken to the Briggs Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. and friends may call.
