Carol Engler, 86, of Harbor Springs, passed away on Jan. 20, 2006, at Northern Michigan Hospital.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs. The Rev. Toby Jones will be the officiant.
Carol was born March 10, 1918, in Bergland, Mich., the daughter of Frank (Heinz) and Mary (Higgins) Heinz Weyenberg.
On Jan. 8, 1936, she married Lloyd Taylor in Harbor Springs, where they made their home. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She had spent many years working in the resort communiites around Harbor Springs.
On April 19, 1997, she married Charles "Chuck" Engler in Harbor Springs. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harbor Springs, the Rebekah Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and the Bay View Reading Club.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Susan Reid and her husband Jim, of Petoskey; a daughter-in-law, Beth Taylor, of Beulah; grandchildren, Karen Urbanus of Interlochen, Steve Taylor of Leelanau and Jim Reid III and his wife Sarah, of Petoskey.
Also surviving are great-grand-children, Ben Seger and Zachary Reid; a step-son, Bill Engler and his wife, Lois, of Harbor Springs and their children, Elaine Warner and her husband, Josh, and Eric Engler; and sisters-in-law, Donna Heinz, Mary Ketchman and Elizabeth Walle.
Carol was preceded in death by her son, Charles L. Taylor; four brothers, Floyd Heinz, Leslie Heinz, Lyle Heinz and George Weyenberg; and a sister, Inez Wenzel; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Wolfe and Anne Heinz.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Harbor Springs Friendship Center, Harbor Springs Area Fire Department, or the First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the Schiller Funeral Home of Harbor Springs, where friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24.
