Petoskey News-Review, Tuesday, April 9, 1985:
Clarence A. stanley, 85, of Petoskey, died April 6, 1985, in LaMesa, Cailf.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey. The Rev. Donald Merrill will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Stanley was born June 4, 1899, in Petoskey, the son of Alexander and Anna Stanley. He attended Petoskey schools and on May 27, 1939, he married the former Ruby M. Trump in Petoskey. She preceded him in death Aug. 7, 1983.
Mr. Stanely has resided in Petoskey all his life and for many years was employed at Penn Dixie Cement Co., retiring in 1964.
He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Stanley was a member of the United Methodist Church in Petoskey.
Survivors include: three sons, Edward A. Stanley of Santwee, Calif., Robert E. Stanley of Effingham, Ill.; and Paul H. Stanley of Harbor Springs; one stepson, Fred Burrows of Petoskey; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Madeline Hammontree of Alanson and Mrs. Betty Motter of Dryden; 23 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church Landscaping Fund or Hospice of Petoskey. Envelopes for those purposes are available at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may call from 1-9 p.m Wednesday, April 10.
