Petoskey News-Review, Friday, March 4, 1988:
Cunigunda C. Simon, 86, of Petoskey, died March 3, 1988, at Little Traverse Division, Northern Michigan Hospitals.
Funeral mass of the resurrection will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at St. Francis Xavier Church. The Rev. Bob Leonhardt will officiate and burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Petoskey.
The former Cunigunda C. Daniel was born April 2, 1901, in Petoskey, the daughter of Frank and Mary Kopp Daniel. She attended St. Francis schools and on April 26, 1922, she married Alfred Simon in Petoskey. The couple moved to Remus and resided there until 1929 when they returned to Petoskey. Mr. Simon preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Simon continued to make her home in the Petoskey area.
Mrs. Simon was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and St. Francis Altar Society.
She is survived by: two daughters, Mrs. Julius (Dorothy) Krusell and Mrs. Raymond (Katherine) Krussell, both of Petoskey; five sons, William of Pellston, Daniel of Bay Shore, Vincent, Leonard and Vernon, all of Petoskey; 45 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Helen Ulrich of Harbor Springs; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Pansy Daniels of Charlevoix and Mrs. Julis Daniels of Petoskey.
The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Endowment Fund. Envelopes for that purpose will be available at the Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. today. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey from 7:30-9 p.m. with a parish rosary at 8 p.m. today.
