D. Cosens Rites Set

Funeral services for Dewey Cosens, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Harbor Springs. Rev. Philip Brown will officiate and interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Mr. Cosens died Wednesday at Midland Hospital.

He was born May 24, 11898 in Harbor Springs where he attended local schools. He graduated from Central Michigan College with a teaching certificate.

On Jan. 14, 1922 he married the former Mary Baker and the couple lived in the Harbor Springs area for many years. Mrs. Cosens preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 1975.

Mr. Cosens taught school in Scottsville for five years and was postmaster in Harbor Springs from 1931 to 1961.

He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Army.

Mr. Cosens was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harbor Springs and served as superintendent of the Sunday school for many years. He also served two terms as president of the Harbor Springs school board from 1946 to 1954.

Survivors include two sons, Dewey Jr., of Napa, Calif., and Norman of Sanford; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Beverly) Kosequat of Avon Lake, Ohio; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Cosens of Harbor Springs.

Friends may call at the Gillian-Erwin Funeral Chapel in Harbor Springs this evening.
