Grew-up and lived most of his life in Junction City, Kansas

Joined US Navy 1944, then transferred to US Army after World War II.

Loved to hunt and fish.

He was very good with his hands, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix and/or repair.

He was known by all of his friends as "Red" due to his flaming red hair.

Baptist Church Troop is Newest in Junction City.
Boy Scout troop No. 66, newest scout troop in Junction City, will receive its charter in a special program to be held in the Municipal Building tonight, beginning at 7:30 o'clock. The troop is sponsored by the First Baptist Church and meets regularly in the church. The 10 charter members of the troop will receive certificates as part of the program tonight. They are Delbert Bryant, James Cross, Don Hall, Charles Heindrick. Wallace Sheard, Wilber Zernickow, Albert Ray, J.D. Hale, Curtis Smith and Dan Walters. Four other boys are working toward a tenderfoot rank in the troop. William B. Still is scoutmaster, Russell Shwartz is assistant scoutmaster, and the troop committee of the church is Alvin Kirkpatrick, Rev. P.E. Johnson, Sam C. Walker, F.L. CROSS, and Oscar Hale.
