Doris M. Swiss, 89, of Harbor Springs, died Sept. 6, 2002, at the Emmet County Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs.
Arrangements are pending at the Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs.

Doris M. Swiss, 89, of Harbor Springs, died Sept. 6, 2002, at the Emmet County Medical Care Facility.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the United Methodist Church of Harbor Springs. Pastor Larry Wood will officiate and interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Doris was born on June 13, 1913, in Alanson, the daughter of George B. and Ida (Robinson) Hartung. She graduated from Harbor Springs High School and then from nursing school in 1935.
She worked at the Petoskey Hospital and also did private duty nursing. She moved to Northville to work in a doctor's office.
In 1944, she married Frank Swiss. They retired and returned to Harbor Springs in 1973.
Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was known for her gardening and canning.
She is survived by two sons, Tom, of Haslett, Mich., and Douglas and his wife, Marcia, of Saline, Mich.; six grandchildren; one stepgrandson; two great-granddaughters; and one stepgranddaughter. Doris was preceded in death by her husband in 1981.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Emmet County Medical Care Facility. Envelopes will be available at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.
