Petoskey News-Review, Monday, 3 Mar 1986:
Douglas J. Hill, 73, of Harbor Springs, died March 2, 1986, at Little Traverse Division, Northern Michigan Hospitals, Petoskey.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the Schiller Funeral Chapel, Harbor Springs. The Rev. Rebecca Clokey will officiate.
Mr. Hill was born May 16, 1912, in Harbor Springs. He attended Harbor Springs schools and graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 1931.
During World War II, Mr. Hill served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
In 1938, he married the former Jeanne Dombroski in Petoskey. The couple have made their home in Harbor Springs since that time.
Mr. Hill had been postmaster in Harbor Springs for 29 years.
He was a member of BPOE No. 629, for 48 years.
Survivors include: his wife; one son, James Hill of Harbor Springs; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Chester (Leona) Martindale of Saginaw, and Mrs. Esther White of Harbor Springs.
The family suggests memorials to the Michigan Heart Association. There will be no visitation at the funeral home prior to the service.
