Ramsay, Dies

RAMSAY- Floyd Heinz, 38, Ramsay World War II veteran, died of a heart attack at 10 this morning at the Divine Infant of Prague Hospital in Wakefield where he had been admitted Wednesday for examinations.

He had been in ill health for the past weeks and had gone to the hospital for a check-up.

He was born Jan. 11, 1915, at Matchwood and attended schools at Bergland. After moving to Harbor Springs, Mich., he enlisted for military service in 1937 and served in the Army in Hawaii for three years.

When he was discharged from the Army he returned to Bergland and was employed in woods work by the Ahonen Lumber Co. until 1942 when he moved to Ramsay. He worked for the Castile Mining Co. until he was recalled for military service in 1944, serving two years in the field artillery in the Pacific theater.

Following his discharge from the service in 1946 he farmed at Ewen for two years, then worked in an automobile plant in Flint for a year before moving back to Ramsay. He was employed at the Castile mine until it closed and since then had worked at he Newport mine.

On July 26, 1942, at Ontonagon he was married to the former Alice Malnar of Ewen. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church.

Surviving are his wife; three children, Christine, Thomas, and Marlene; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Taylor, Harbor Springs, and Mrs. Ted Wenzel, Detroit; two brothers, Leslie Heinz, Harbor Springs, and Lyle Heinz, Petoskey, Mich., and a half-brother, George Weyenburg, who is serving with the Army in Germany. He was preceded in death by two sons who died in infancy, Kenneth in 1942 and Timothy in 1946.

The body is at the J. J. Frick Funeral home in Bessemer. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
