F. Burgess Rites Set

Franklin Keiser Burgess, 84, of Freeport and a native of Bliss, died Nov. 17 at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids.

Masonic services will be held tonight (Friday) at teh Leonard-Osgood Funeral Home in Hastings at 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Freeport United Brethren in Christ Church with Rev. William Hunt officiating, Another service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pioneer Memorial at Bliss. Rev. Martin Alexander will officiate and interment will be in Bliss Township Cemetery.

Mr. Burgess was born in Nashville on Aug. 28, 1892. He moved to the Bliss area with his family as a small boy. He married the former Alice Shinn in Bliss on Dec. 5, 1921. The couple moved to Grand Rapids and then to Freeport in 1928.

Mr. Burgess worked as a carpenter for many years.

He was a veteran of World War I and served with the U. S. Army in France.

Mr. Burgess was a member of the Freeport Veterans of Foreign Wars; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, chapter 002 in Grand Rapids.

Survivors include his widow; one son, Franklin D. Burgess of Harbor Springs; one daughter, Mrs.Clarence (Sara Jane) Justus of Charles City, Iowa; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
