SUTTONS BAY
Gordon Wallace Bahle, of Suttons Bay, died Friday.
Born June 12, 1912, in Ludington, he was the son of Captain Esten and Laura (Gronseth) Bahle.
Gordon lived in Ludington until the death of his mother in 1918 when the family moved to Suttons Bay. He attended Suttons Bay schools and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. During his high school years, he was often the church organist.
After completing high school he moved to Detroit to pursue a career in music. In 1935 he joined the Henry Ford Orchestra and remained with them until he was drafted in 1942.
During this time he also made occasional appearances on Detroit radio shows.
During World War II he served as a staff sergeant in the Rhineland Campaign. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
After the service he co-owned and operated, with his brother Lester, the Civic Park Cleaners & Men's Shop in Flint. He retired in 1982 and returned to Suttons Bay in 1988.
He is survived by three brothers, Lester, Orville and Kenneth (Helen); two sisters, Realpha (Clausen) and Thelma (Ike Hagen); also many nieces and nephews.
His mother and father preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at a later date. No visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the church building fund in Gordon's name.

GORDON W. BAHLE, 88, of Suttons Bay, died Friday, June 16, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons Bay.
Arrangements are being handled by Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
