Petoskey News Review, Aug 1994:
James L. Heinz, 47, of Tampa, Fla., and formerly of Harbor Springs, died Aug. 11, 1994, at Tampa General Hospital.
Funeral will be 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Schiller Funeral Chapel of Harbor Springs. The Rev. Tom Cook of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate, and burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Harbor Springs.
Mr. Heinz was born March 24, 1947, the son of Lyle and Anna (Lanterman) Heinz. He grew up in Harbor Springs and attended Harbor Springs High School, graduating in 1965.
Following high school, he served four years in the U.S. Army, including being stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran.
He graduated from Central Michigan University in 1873.
Mr. Heinz moved to Atlanta, Ga., for awhile prior to moving to Tampa, where he had lived the past 15 years.
He worked as a manager for Electronic Management Systems.
Mr. Heinz was a member of the Masonic Lodge and B.P.O.E. in Tampa.
Survivors include his mother, Anna M. Heinz, two brothers and their wives, Michael and Maddy and David and Patty, all of Harbor Springs; two foster sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Julie Piovesan and Robert and Kristy Piovesan, all of Tampa; three grandchildren; and two nieces and six nephews. Mr. Heinz was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Heinz, in 1985.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Northern Michigan Foundation for the Cardiac Care Unit. Envelopes for memorial contributions are available at the Schiller Funeral Chapel of Harbor Springs where visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Monday, Aug. 15.
