John C. Melching was born 10 August 1899 at Steubenville, Jefferson, Ohio.

Harbor Springs summer visitor, John C. Melching, 85, of Sandusky, Ohio, died June 2, 1985, at Providence Hospital, Sandusky.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Lakeview Cemetery, Harbor Springs.
Mr. Melching was born Aug. 10, 1899, in Steubenville, Ohio. He had spent summers in the Harbor Springs area as a child, before moving to Sandusky.
Mr. Melching was a veteran of World War I and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sandusky. He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Steubenville Masonic Lodge.
For many years, Mr. Melching was a district manager of Metropolitan Life Insurance, Co. for the Sanduskey, Ohio district. He retired in 1963.
Survivors include his wife, the former Kathleen Suter of Sanduskey; one daughter, Mrs. Pat Johnston; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
Local arrangements were handled by the Schiller Funeral Chapel, Harbor Springs.
