Josephine E. Wareck, 84

Josephine E. Wareck, 84, of Alto, Mich., and formerly of Petoskey, died April 12, 2008, at the Laurels of Kent in Lowell, Mich.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey with the Rev. Eyob Merin officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Larks Lake.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, April 14, at Stone Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Josephine E. Wareck, 84

Josephine E. Wareck, 84, of Alto, Mich., and formerly of Petoskey, died April 12, 2008, at the Laurels of Kent in Lowell, Mich.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey with the Rev. Eyob Merin officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Larks Lake.

Josephine was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Pellston, the daughter of Frank and Mary Wiklanski. She grew up in Larks Lake and attended school in Pellston, where she graduated from high school in 1942.

On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Simon C. Wareck in Larks Lake. They made their home in Petoskey, where Josephine worked at St. Francis Xavier Church as the church secretary for 20 years. She retired in 1985.

In 2001, they moved to Alto, Mich., where they resided since.

She loved to golf and also sang in the church choir. Most of all, she enjoyed being with fer family.

Josephine is survived by her husband, Simon; four children, Christ Wareck of Alto, Mich., Jerry Wareck and his wife, Cheryl, of Boston, Tom Wareck of Grand Rapids and Jim Wareck and his wife, Eunice, of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Tony, Laura and Jimmy; and many nieces and nephews.

Contributions in memory of Josephine may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at Stone Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, April 14. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
