Mrs. Skoczylas, 89

Funeral Mass for Josephine M. Skoczylas, 89, of Pellston, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Clement Catholic Church in Pellston. Fr. Odoric Akwick, OFM, will officiate and interment will be in the Lark’s Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Skoczylas died early this morning at Little Traverse Division of Northern Michigan Hospitals, Inc.

The former Josephine M. Wiklanski was born in Poland on March 18, 1888. She came to the United States in 1905 and to the Pellston area in 1917 where she has lived since.

On Nov. 11, 1907 she married Andrew Skoczylas at Lark’s Lake and the couple made their home in the Pellston area. He preceded her in death in 1960.

Mrs. Skoczylas was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.

She is survived by six sons, John of North Riverside, Ill., Stanley of Hazel Park, Frank of Sylmar, Calif., Joseph of Monterey, Calif., Henry of Warren and Edward of Flint; five daughters, Mrs. Julia Lash of Hamtramack, Mrs. Stanley (Statsia) Bodzick of Levering, Mrs. Julius (Anne) Kawula of Taylor, Mrs. Tom (Mildred) Wilson of Lincoln Park, Mrs. Roy (Nellie) Borghi of Allen Park; 48 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Winchester- Hallead Funeral Home in Petoskey where friends may call beginning Friday morning. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
