Kenneth Garver

Kenneth "Buck" Garver, 94, of Harbor Springs passed away Oct. 31, 2007 at his home.

Kenneth was born Aug. 26, 1913 in Good Hart to Jacob O. and Selma Lois (Whitaker) Garver. He grew up in Good Hart and also attended school there. On June 19, 1940 he married the former Elizabeth June Young and the couple made their home in Harbor Springs. She preceded him in death in 2003.

Kenneth worked for the Harbor Point Association for over 40 years as a carriage and dray driver until he retired. He also worked as a logger in the local woods using his horses. He was known to have a green thumb when it came to growing plants and trees. Following retirement he enjoyed cutting and splitting firewood and also attending horse shows.

He is survived by his children Kenneth Jr. and his wife Elaine, and Susan Lightfoot, all of Harbor Springs; his grandchildren Amy (Wayne) Heminger, Betsy (Tony) O Berg, Karen (Matt) Delnick, Nancy Lightfoot (Dan Gasco), Jeff (Jane) Garver, Gregg (Debbie) Garver; 16 great grandchildren; a sister Pauline Terpening of Harbor Springs; a brother Jacob (Blanche) Garver of Elkhart, Ind.; two sisters-inlaw Neva Lauer and Estella Ramey both of Harbor Springs. He was preceded in death by his brothers Oliver, David and Lewis and his sisters Ruth, Lucy, Lois, Lione, Loraine and Janet.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the Stutsmanville Chapel with Pastor Edward Warner officiating. Interment is in Lakeview Cemetery.
