Rites Friday
Rev. LeRoy Lightfoot, 75, native of Emmet county and well known for his Christmas tree farm in Harbor Springs, died in Lakeland, Florida yesterday after a heart attack. Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at Vicksburg, Mich. and interment will be in Vicksburg Cemetery.
Born in Emmet county in 1895 he attended Harbor Springs Schools and graduated from Albion College. Rev. Lightfoot was an ordained Methodist minister.
He married Grace Savage in 1917 and they were missionaries in India for 20 years. He was also pastor in Vicksburg, Mich. where he will be buried. Grace Lightfoot died July 23, 1966.
He married Mildred Liddicote October 19, 1967 in Illinois and they made their home in Lakeland, Florida in the winter and in Harbor Springs during the summer months.
Mr. Lightfoot founded his tree farm in Harbor Springs in 1950.
Besides his wife, Mildred, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Cordell, of White Hall, Mich., Mrs. Irene Hendly, of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. One Belle Margules; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family suggests that anyone wishing to honor the memory of Rev. Lightfoot may contribute in his name to the Michigan Heart Fund.
