KANOSH / ST. GEORGE - Louise Edith Pikyavit Bushhead passed away July 8, 2011.

She was born February 11, 1937 at Kanosh Paiute Indian Reservation, Kanosh UT to Emily Sobquint and Joseph Pikyavit. She married Smith Bushhead on Feb 22, 1974 in Meadow, UT.

Our mother will be remembered throughout the Indian community for her beadwork. She also loved to travel to pow-wows for hand game tournaments and was proud of her traditional ways. She traveled throughout the Indian community to sing traditional Indian salt songs for many funerals and was very well respected for this dedication to her Paiute people. She was educated in Phoenix, AZ at Phoenix Indian School and did cosmetology in California and Utah. She helped raise numerous nieces, nephew, and foster children. She enjoyed being around her family. She had a huge heart for everyone, and enjoyed all the people she met in her travels.

She came from a family of 9 where she was the 3rd from the oldest. She lived most of her life in Kanosh until 2002 when she moved to St. George for health reasons and lived there until the time of her death. Our mother will be loved and missed by many.
