He died 10 May 1985 in Petoskey, Emmet, Michigan and is buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathleen Anne Heinz.

Lyle K Heinz, 63, former chairman of the Emmet County Democrats, died May 10, 1985 at Northern Michigan Hospitals.
Funeral will be 11 am, May 13, at the Stutsmanville Chapel with Rev. Ed Warner, assisted by Rev. Rebecca Clokey officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Mr. Heinz was born June 27, 1921 in Matchwood, MI.
He married the former Anna Lanterman on Jan 14, 1942 and the couple have made their home in Harbor Springs for many years. Mr. Heinz was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone for 35 yrs, retiring in 1976.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was active in city and political affairs. He served one term on the Harbor Springs council and for 10 years was chairman of the Emmet County Democratic party. For 8 years, he was area president of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local.
Mr. Heinz is survied by his wife; three son, Michael Heinz and David Heinz both of Harbor Springs and James Heinz of Tampa, FL; 11 grandchldren; two sisters, Inez Wenzel and Carol Taylor, both of Harbor Springs; one brother, George Weyenberg of Ewen, MI.
