Marie Anna Melching, 89, of Harbor Springs, died Nov. 17, 1999, at the Emmet County Medical Care Facility.
Marie was born July 30, 1910, in Mackinaw City, the daughter of Asa and Elizabeth (Miles) Spencer. She attended Petoskey schools and graduated in 1929.
In 1930, she married Wilbur Melching in Petoskey, and the couple made their home in Harbor Springs.
She had worked for Michigan Bell Telephone, as a housekeeper on Harbor Point, and at the Emmet County Medical Care Facility for nine years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Emmet Rebekah Lodge, Bay View Reading Club and the Emmet County Medical Care Facility Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Robert and his wife, Ruth, of Levering, and Richard and his wife, Delores, of Cheboygan; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by her brother, Maston Spencer.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by the Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs.
