Marvin J. Johnston, 82, of Harbor Springs, died Jan. 14, 2003, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Arrangements are pending at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs.

Marvin J. "Mike" Johnston, 82, of Harbor Springs, died Jan. 14, 2003, at Northern Michigan Hospital.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs. The Rev. Ed Warner of Stutsmanville Chapel will officiate.
Mike was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Harbor Springs, the son of Robert and Mary (Sheffield) Johnston. He grew up in Cross Village, where he farmed from the age of 12. He attended school at Sogonosh Valley.
On Aug. 29, 1942, he married Anna Marie Vivant in Harbor Springs and they continued farming until they moved to Flint in the early 1950s. They then returned to the Harbor Springs area, where he went to work for the Emmet County Road Commission until he retired in 1981.
He was known throughout the area as Uncle Mike to many.
He enjoyed gardening, cutting wood and hunting.
Survivors include his loving wife, Anna; son, Gene Warner and Pat of Harbor Springs; grandsons, Terry Warner and Becky of Northport, Carl Warner of Plainwell, Marty Warner and Yvonne of Harbor Springs, Arvin Warner of Northport, Ben Warner of Harbor Springs; granddaughters, Linda Warner of Saline, Mich., and Sue Warner of Harbor Springs; one sister, Mrs. Herb (Irene) Hickman, of Petoskey; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary; four brothers, Elmer, Sam, Earl and Roy Johnston; two sisters, Berta Mathews and Edna Swiss; and one son, Frank Warner.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay or to the charity of choice.
