Nellie C. Powers, 85

A memorial service for Nellie C. Powers, 85, of Good Hart, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Redpath Memorial Church in Cross Village. Bishop David Thornberry will officiate and interment will be in Island View Cemetery.

Mrs. Powers died May 15, 1983, at Little Traverse Division of Northern Michigan Hospitals.

She was born Jan. 3, 1898 in Dunbridge, Ohio, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Sullivan. She moved to the Good Hart area with her family when she was 3 years old and has resided there for the past 82 years.

She married Cliff Powers in Ann Arbor on Sept. 17, 1951.

Mrs. Powers was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and is a former matron. She was also a member of the Lakeshore Extension Club.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Sally Alverson of Martinsville, Ind., and Mrs. Dorothy Schultz of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Shurtleff of Cross Village.
