Petoskey News-Review, Monday, 8 Nov 1971:
Services for Raymond W. Sterly, 76, who died Sunday morning at his home in Friendship Twp. will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Holy Childhood Church. Rev. Flavius Czuba, OFM will celebrate the Requiem Mass and interment will be in Holy Childhood Cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion Post No. 281 of Harbor Springs.
He was born March 26, 1895 in Friendship Twp. and farmed all his life in the township. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Harbor Springs American Legion No. 281. He was also a member of St. Ignatius Church in Good Hart and the Harbor Springs Grange, No. 805.
He married Lorena Schlosser on December 25, 1922 in St. Nicholas Church, Larks Lake. She preceded him February 26, 1960.
Survivors include one sone, Lawrence, of Petoskey; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Suchanek, of Bancroft and Mrs. Caroline Kiburski, of Harbor Springs; 21 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Rudolph, of Harbor Springs.
The rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Gillian-Erwin Funeral Home whiere frineds may call.
