Robert J. Cook, 91, of Charlevoix, died Aug. 24, 2006, at his home in Charlevoix.
Burial will be in Holy Childhood Cemetery in Harbor Springs.
Arrangements are being handled by Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix.

Robert James Cook, 91, of Charlevoix, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at his home in Charlevoix.
A Rite of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at St. Mary's Church in Charlevoix. The Rev. Jerry Hunko will officiate and burial will take place in Holy Childhood Cemetery in Harbor Springs.
Bob was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Harbor Springs, the son of Francis and May (Kilpatrick) Cook. He graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 1935, and from Western Michigan University in 1939.
He married the former Mary L. Ward on Dec. 16, 1937, in Petoskey. Bob taught at Copemish, Pellston and Harbor Springs before moving to Charlevoix in 1953, where he taught industrial education and math until retiring in 1973.
Bob and Mary joined with parents of mentally challenged children to create the school now known as the Bergmann Center in Charlevoix, and Bob considered this to be his greatest achievement.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Charlevoix.
Mary preceded Bob in death on March 12, 2005.
Bob is survived by his children, Frank (Dayle) Cook of Mesa, Ariz., Nancy (Tony) Giustra of Harbor Springs, Martha Skeel of Charlevoix; daughter-in-law, Barbara Cook, of Charlevoix; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, George N. (Ruth) Cook, of Kansas City, Mo.; brother-in-law, Louis (Izetta) Ward, of Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Ann Ellwanger of Harbor Springs, Helen Ward of Petoskey. Bob was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou; son, Norman; sisters, Frances Elliott and Mary Ketels; and a brother, Hugh.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bergmann Center, 8855 Martin Road, Charlevoix, Mich. 49720.
