Petoskey News-Review, Friday, July 29, 1988:
Rodney J. Hickman, 48, of Bear Creek Township, died July 29, 1988, at Little Traverse Division, Northern Michigan Hospitals, following a long illness.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey. The Rev. Ed Warner will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Petoskey.
Mr. Hickman was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Petoskey, the son of Herbert and Irene (Johnston) Hickman. He attended Petoskey schools and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1958.
On Aug. 31, 1963, he married the former Judith A. Fettig in Petoskey. The couple have always resided in the Petoskey area.
Mr. Hickman had been a carpenter by trade and was employed with the Richard Wilbur Construction Co. for several years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Michigan State Fox Hunter’s Association.
He is survived by: his wife; one daughter, Debora Hickman of Holland; his parents, Herbert and Irene Hickman of Petoskey; three brothers, Douglas, Jerry and Robert, all of Petoskey; one sister, Mrs. David (Iris) Lesh of Alanson.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of choice. Envelopes for memorials may be obtained at the Stone Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
