Ronald F. Farley was the oldest of eight children born to Frank and Mary (Lass) Farley. He was educated at both Alcester and Beresford, South Dakota. From 1942 to 1946, Ron served in the Pacific as a part of the U. S. Marine Corp before being honorably discharged. After getting married, he resided in Aberdeen, Idaho, where he owned and operated the Transport Inn as an oil distributor. In 1959, Ron moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where he worked for Garrett Freightliner and then for Cowboy Oil Co. as a salesman.
Ronald's interest in aviation resulted in his obtaining a pilot's license. His memberships included V. F. W., American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Elks Club.
