Sarah Nichols, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Newland Nichols, was born 28 Mar 1834 at Ashern, Warwick, England. She was baptized 10 Jun 1849 and Endowed 12 Aug 1855, the same day she was sealed to her husband, Moroni Dayton, in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they raised a family of ten children.
Sarah was of medium height, slender and had black eyes and black hair. She always took great pride in her personal appearance. She loved and always had a black silk dress with a white lace collar. She was an excellent seamstress.
She came to Utah with a Handcart Company, and walked every step across the plains. She had a fervent and unshakable testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was active in all phases of Relief Society work, as well as in other organizations.
Sarah Nichols Dayton died of old age in Dingle, Idaho, 3 Jun 1921 and was buried in Dingle, next to her husband, Moroni, who had preceded her in death.
