Married Alice M. McBride Nov. 16, 1874, Salt Lake City (daughter of Reuben McBride and Mary Ann Anderson of Fillmore, pioneers 1851). She was born Dec. 4, 1853.

PASSES AWAY
Thomas C. Callister, born in Salt Lake, August 2, 1852, died at his home, 279 Hubbard Ave., Salt Lake City, July 30th.
While he had not been in the best of health for the past few months, Uncle Thomas-as he was affectionately called in Fillmore-was apparently feeling as well as usual link building service just prior to his death. He was one of the speakers at a funeral Sunday. As it was an extremely warm day, he went for a long automobile ride with members of his family that evening. He went to bed apparently feeling much refreshed, but when his daughter, LaNola went to rouse him in the morning she found that he had passed away sometime during the night, and as far as the doctor was able to determine, without any suffering.
The deceased was the son of Thomas Callister and Helen Mar Clark, who came to Utah in 1847. In 1861 the family moved to Fillmore, where Mr. Callister remained until 1907 when he returned to Salt Lake City. He was married in Fillmore to Alice McBride, who preceded him to the grave a few years ago.
In his early manhood he helped to defend the pioneer settlements against attacks by the Indians and won for himself a reputation for being a fearless fighter.
He was educated in the public schools, Deseret University and Morgan Commercial College where he specialized in bookkeeping and accounting.
Mr. Callister was mayor of Fillmore, and a former member of both houses of the state legislature. Besides occupying these positions, he also acted as probate judge, assessor and collector, justice of the peace, superintendent of public instruction, county clerk and recorder.
He was bishop of Fillmore for some time, also holding many other ecclesiastical positions both here and in Salt Lake City. At the time of his death he was an official worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
Funeral services were held yesterday at 12 o'clock in the Liberty Ward Chapel, and interment was in the Salt Lake Temple.
Uncle Thomas is survived by four children: Ruby C. Kranenberg, San Francisco; T. Clark Callister, Fillmore; Laura A. Callister and La Nola C. Driggs, Salt Lake; also by sixteen brothers and sisters: Alva Callister, Logan; William Henry Callister, Daniel Porter Callister, Susan D. Lyman and Russell K. Callister, all of Salt Lake; Mrs. Elida Ellison, Orson Callister, both of Blackfoot, Idaho; Mrs. Juliet Carson, Idaho Falls; Walter Callister, Fillmore; Joseph Platt Callister, Oak City; Helen Mar McCullough, Delts; Catharine Hatton, Fillmore; Mary M. Lyman, Oak City; Sadie M. Pratt, Vallejo, Cal.; Isabel Webb, Hayward, Cal.; John Callister, Tooele. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and six great grand children.
