Vern L. Doty, 81
Vern L Doty, 81, of Harbor Springs died at Lockwood-MacDonald Hospital on December 26, 1967 after an illness of several years.
Services will be Friday at 2p.m. at the Erwin Funeral Parlors with Rev. Donald Drew of the Presbyterian Church officiating. He will be assisted by the F.&A.M. Lodge. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Born in Elkhart, IN, May 11, 1886, he came to Harbor Springs as a small boy and lived there for several years.
He married Marion Blackman in 1915 at Harbor Springs and she preceded him in death in 1926. He married Bessie Blakley at Harbor Springs in 1927. They lived in Eaton Rapids for a while before returning to Harbor Springs about 18 yrs ago.
Mr. Doty was a retired rural mail carrier and had worked for the US Post Office for over 40 years. He was a member of the Harbor Springs F.&A.M. Lodge.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Doris) Woods of Eaton Rapids, Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Zumbaugh of Lansing and Mrs. Robert (Isabelle) Corbin of Haslett; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Blanch Gage and Mrs. Ruby Herrick, both of Harbor Springs and a brother, Glen Doty of Dewitt.
